Open to non-residents, the restaurant at Plumber Manor has been in the Good Food Guide every year for 38 years.
The Prideaux-Brune family has been entertaining guests at Plumber Manor for over 400 years! Hardly surprising, therefore, that the manor is now home to one of the most popular country house restaurants in Dorset, a particular favourite of discerning Dorset residents.
“Our guests are our friends and I cook for my friends” is Brian Prideaux-Brune’s philosophy, much appreciated by residents and local diners alike. Here's a lovely note from a group of recent diners:
"Dear all at Plumber Manor,
We just wanted to say a big thank you for the large family celebratory meal we had with you on the evening of Sunday 3rd June. The private dining room was lovely and it was helpful to be able to decorate it beforehand.
The whole staff were extremely friendly, courteous and professional and the level of service was impressive. All of our guests commented on the terrific quality of the food, and really enjoyed their meal. We had guests from eight years of age to eighty eight and you managed to please them all! The dishes came out together and were beautifully presented as well as being delicious.
We really enjoyed the excellent cooking of first class ingredients without the silly notions that some restaurants favour currently.
We had a wonderful evening and really appreciated the warmth of welcome. Your hotel is beautiful and many guests took away brochures, with a view to returning!
Many thanks once again.
J and J H"
Brian's delicious Dinner Menu changes daily and ‘a la carte’ supplements accompany the set price menu. Brian’s Sunday Lunch is supremely regarded locally and so is always popular; booking is essential.
Richard Prideaux-Brune is responsible for the cellar, a responsibility he takes very seriously indeed. The result is an enviable wine list that complements perfectly the exceptionally fine food. He also mixes the most sensational cocktails!
The restaurant comprises three rooms, two of which are decorated with family portraits and have open fires, a popular feature in winter. The quirky Cellar Room features a vaulted brick ceiling and has been hand-painted to depict an authentic country scene.
The restaurant is open every evening of the week as well as for lunch on Sunday.
